WCIL
Our first 608 had the loose roll issue. We fought it most of the time we owned it, even after dealer worked on it under warranty. Traded into another later on, and issue was fixed on new one (not sure of model yr). For unknown reason, the newer seems to butt shell way less in the dewy mornings, even though both had hyd deck plates and were identical. For us, the 608s are better than the 893s we had. Heavier gathering chains and sprockets, etc. Hardly have to replace anything due to wear. Also no longer have the feederhouse fluff in the center on dry afternoons. We built a fluff reel for that purpose, but have not needed it since. Have no experience with Calmer. We love our 608 here. Just our experience.
