Only thing j would add is after you complete the fix is to calibrate your gauge wheels for proper depth. A new and/or repaired arm does give you exactly what you set it to according to the manual even on a new planter.

Build yourself a calibration jig by taking a sheet of 1/2/" thick plywood and cut it into the width and length of the gauge wheel footprint of your row unit. Then place a pair of 2x4's on the plywood and slide the plywood and 2x4's under the row unit.

Line the 2x4s up with the taper angle of the gauge wheels so when you set the unit down, the gauge wheels rest on the 2x4's. Marl their locations and remove all 3 pieces of wood from under the row unit. Secure the bottom plywood to the 2x4s with screws after they are put back into the marked positions.

Lastly cut 2 pieces out of the 1/2" thick plywood that will match the length and width of the 2x4s. Screw these two to the top of the 2x4's that are screwed to the bottom plywood sheet.

Now you have a 2" calibration jig that you can move row to row and find exactly where 2" is on each row.

Great idea! I need to do that on my old White 5100.
