Sanilac Co. Michigan | I think I know what you mean. Soybeans kind of get treated as a sort of slum crop by some guys around here. Not at all uncommon to see soybeans on a continuous basis on some lower grade rented ground. No fertilizer, minimal weed control, cheap seed or bin run if they can do it. About all they have into it is rent and equipment to get it in and out. Usually city type landowners, smaller parcels crummy drainage. Land lord doesn't care since his likely getting $100/acres, so its free money to him he figures.
Amazing to me how tolerant soybeans are to minimal inputs. Maybe they really are the scavenger crop guys say they are and im foolish to fertilize them.
