Illinois
coup - 12/6/2018 20:14

Northern corn - 12/6/2018 18:20

Coup that’s lean and mean! Can you break that down. Email if you want. I’m already running lean on seed but would like to get meaner....

140 lbs NH3
130 lbs Dap
80 lbs Potash
50 lbs Urea
10 gal 32
5 gal ATS
Total $103

Seed= $32
Chem= $32
Insect= $13
Fung= $3.50
Fung-insect-Plane= $16.50
Total= $200

Forgot to add Urea cost on first post. P & K is based on new removal testing.

Would it be cheaper to plant traited corn and cut your chem bill in half and cut out 13.50 and 3.50 for fungicide and insecticide? To me that is roughly$33 per acre of expenses and I don't know what your extra machine and labor cost look like. Looks like you are doing alot of extra work and hassle for no extra profit.

If you can buy a good non GMO hybrid for $32 per acre I would bet you could find a good VT3 or stax hybrid for an extra $30 and pocket the difference while making life easier
