Every year there are fewer and fewer running around but I'm able to farm a few hundred acres with 5 of em and 1 big brother Agco DT240. I have noticed it seems like the farms that run AC's or did lately are (this may offend some) extremely frugal, not exactly progressive types. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I have talked to numerous IH and JD guys that talk about spending thousands at their dealers on 30 to 40 year old tractors and not blink an eye. A few years ago I had the torque limiter go out on a 7045 with 6000 hours, 1st time the tractor had ever been split. Total bill was 1,900 or so. I had a green friend look at me like I lost my mind that I fixed it.
And frankly a lot of AC guys would say park it as well. Maybe I am just incredibly lucky as I have a D17 and a 185 that have never ever jumped out of gear and many 426 engines over years and no ventilated blocks.
