Floyd County, Iowa | I had similar issue a few years ago, but with QuickBooks Pro, going from Windows XP to Windows 7.
The old version wouldn't run on Windows 7.
The jump from our old software version (QB 95) to the new version of QB was too far apart.
Our CPA is a QB advisor, and he has the older versions of QB, so he took our data and converted the files upward from 95 to the latest.
He was able to do it in steps of 2 or 3 versions until he got to current. Doing this lets me access data back to 1995 when I started using it, instead of just having beginning balances in the GL.
If you can find some of the past versions of Quicken, you could do the same. Not sure how many versions you can jump with Quicken, but if there's older versions around, you could get them cheaply, or even free from someone that doesn't use the old version anymore.
My wife's Quicken 2000 (for household checkbook and investments) loaded up in Windows 7 fine, but I have to be creative to get reports printed at year end. | |
