Soybeans are the barometer every one is watching for Chinese intentions. Unfortunately, you don't have that luxury, because once you get your signal negative you have missed your opportunity. Xi comes out of that meeting saying nothing. Trump comes out tweeting and having his team make statements about what the Chinese said. Dumb. Now, what if Xi doesn't buy US ag, how will that make Trump look? Does Xi have an interest in embarrassing Trump? Yes, but he also doesn't want 25% tariffs. But is that Trump threat credible now that he has backed down for some tweet rights to farmers and a dead cat stock market bounce? And if the bounce fails, and markets go to hell as everyone learns how flimsy the whole thing was, will Trump really have the nerve to impose the Tariffs, getting into the second half of his term, when he might already be in trouble with some Republican senators? Fade Trump.
