It appears to me that the U.S. did not have an well thought out set of expectations going into this trade negotiation/war, other than less of a trade deficit with China. So telling China they need to buy more of our stuff (soybeans, pork, etc.) assumes they are not buying all they want now.

China does try to keep (manipulate) its' currency cheap relative to the dollar. So what other goal should U.S. Farmers have with regard to a deal with China?
