Texas, the really flat part | farmer4321 - 11/29/2018 06:20
What happened to India, fall off the map. 400 million people in Europe, another billion plus in greater Asia? China's demand for meat protein will be limited by it's economic prosperity and the US will try to do everything possible to limit that in the future so we'll solve their problem for them. How nice is that?
Africa's protein problem is due to their low agricultural productivity which can be solved. As for South America, the authors must be assuming that the Amazon doesn't get cleared, poor assumption.
Notice they put everything in terms of "per capita" . What happens when population growth declines, even goes negative, like it is in Europe and the US.
More important, what happens when laboratory grown "meat" becomes viable? When that hits the market it will have profoundly negative impacts on agriculture. |
