Subject: China protein demand projections from Gro

Timely and Really interesting read on historical and projected plant/animal protein demand.

https://gro-intelligence.com/insights/which_countries_have_a_protein...

Summary: China’s domestic protein situation is between bad and horrific and looks to get worse.

My speculation: Long term, Brazil can’t feed the tiger alone. As has been pointed out by economist after poli sci major over the years, hungry people make for unsettled governments. On the flip side, governments that want to hang around long term have to meet people’s needs, and food/diet is a pretty basic need/want.

Despite wild prognostications to the contrary on here, I struggle to see how basic economics of supply and demand (in the food sector) don’t re-establish with China at some point in the near future. Hey, we may not be most favorable nation status trading partners, but it’s trade. Pork/poultry/soy/maybe corn.
