As a custom farm you handle, harvest, haul and unload a lot more material than when it would be dry. Wet shanks can increase ear snap on certain varieties. This can happen when shank has not hardened off. And yes some customers wanted kernel at just black layer or just before. Some wanted all the cob you could give them. But that was a few years ago. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

I must tell you we soon bid the harvest by the acre, not by appraised dry bushel an acre.
