A few weeks ago, GM warned everyone that steel & aluminum tariffs would raise the cost of producing vehicles and would be consequences. It looks like those consequences include firing 15,000 auto workers. If the 7x multiplier is accurate then it's as good as laying off another 100,000. Sure slow vehicles sales are a factor but declining vehicle sales are just another indicator of the slowdown that's coming.
Meanwhile, the lame-duck Republicans have just introduce a big tax cut bill, the bigger part of which are tax cut extenders for the Oil Industry. Who would have guess?
What was that somebody was saying about subsidies for corn ethanol? That the Oil Industry never gets any help while farmers get all the help?
