WWII was not fought because of oil.
Maybe not but it sure figured prominently in many battles..
After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.. they turned south to secure Crude Oil supplies from Indonesia.
The Battle of The Bulge was certainly over when the Germans ran out of fuel.. Just ask them what Crude Oil supplies meant as the Allies pounded the heck out of their supplies from the Romanian Oil Fields.
I'm glad that we are not as dependent upon the Middle East.. Trump's foreign policy has been to make the US more self Reliant vs the Middle East.. which he says we need to come home from.. but.. since this is market talk and not political talk.. (can you really separate the two?) I'll stop here.
Trump's Oil interest have had Mission #1 to increase the US's domestic production.. and they've done a pretty good job other than the turf battles with competing sources.. like ethanol.. and the other renewables.
If the Trump administration would pivot on Renewables.. and they just might have to be more accommodative if they want to see a 2nd term.. I think they would have a good mix.
We need both.. but we need to see competition at the pump.
