Im in chatham kent ,so southwestern Ontario. The last land sale close to me that was just earlier this fall was a 50 acre piece and it sold for over 18,000 per acre.
So about 13,000 US. Land prices are not softening here. It is impossible to compete with the 4 big familys here. If you put in a reasonable bid they will put 2,000 on that without blinking an eye just so you cant get it.
Its the same here ,greenhouse guys will pay $30k acre if its what they want ,a mile away its $8k (still way more than can economically be justified) ....but its all about location,neigbors,supply managed commodities, Dutch livestock guys ,ect......what I was alluding too was areas with farming as sole source of income..
