Subject: RE: what ipad works best for soil sampling

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
May want to look into an external GPS for this application. I have an iPad Pro (2 years old) with max memory. It has cellular capabilities and I have a data plan. I tried using it to mark some rocks but when I tried to find them again it wasn't very accurate and had some in the neighbor's field.

I tried an external GPS which plugged into the lightning port (Elf? brand). It worked better than the internal GPS that came with the iPad in open areas but was actually worse in a cab such as my pickup truck. This was a rather cheap external GPS and I'm sure others must work better. My results may have been dependent on the application I was trying to use which wasn't specifically designed for marking rocks.
