We are an unreliable supplier to them because 1 person that leads our government can impose tariffs on any of their goods at anytime forcing them to retaliate. That means they are forced to act by imposing tariffs on something that will cause the enemy (U.S.) the most pain. Soybeans and the ag economy is the best choice because it effects the most voters. Voters that have the power to elect a new leader of our government.

My bet is if all the soybeans in the U.S. were owned by 1 or 2 companies they wouldnt have been targeted or if the president was elected for life. Like you said, it is a tariff enacted by them and yes it cost them 25 percent. That is the the price they are willing to pay to cause pain to the most amount of voters they can influence in our country.

So from a supply and logistics point, we are the most reliable source for soybeans in the world. However, at this point we are not the most reliable trading partner in their mind and because of that they are willing to pay more for Brazil and Argentina soybeans to prove that point.

Do you know what the tariff percentage and the vat tax were before the retaliatory tariffs imposed by our such good customer? Look it up! The US doesn’t have a VAT, if you understand how the vat works it’s been quite costly to us.
