For me it isn't the actual shirt, but it's the tags. Don't know what they're made of, but the tags on my work shirts feel like they have fine wires in them that scratches/itches something fierce.
I have my wife take them out for me(after I ruined a new shirt, she decided to take over), but if she leaves ANY exposed, it's like a wire brush.
