KDD, in the user Control Panel there is a check box for the question: "Is your e-mail publicly viewable?"  This gives the user the option of displaying/not displaying his/her e-mail address when viewers look at the poster's Profile.

Edit: The e-mail link button also displays when an e-mail address is available.
