Subject: Pellet stove, more efficient?

Paradise KS
I bought a 12 year old pellet stove from my wife’s uncle last winter. Used it last winter and have it going now. It just doesn’t seem to heat well. This is burning straight wood pellets. We have it in our basement heating a living area, play room, and office. 30’ x 30 area roughly but it’s an l shape. This is a new house but basement isn’t insulated. It was 25 out today. Upstairs heat is set at 64 and not sure it ran all day. Basement was at 60 when I started it and got up to 65 and stayed there. Used about a bag of pellets. I’m sure im losing heat upstairs but I’m dissapointed overall how it heats.

I’ve cleaned it per operating manual and everything seems to function well.

Are newer pellet stoves more efficient at heating? I may be asking to much not sure. Insulation would help and I’ll get there but I’d like to spray foam it at some point.

just seen one at orshlens that said good for 1500 sq ft with a 120 lb Hopper for 1200. It’s half the size of mine and mine only holds 50 lbs or so.
