Missouri

carlsoncl - 11/8/2018 21:14 And no headaches......amen. Not enough margin in cows to confine, feed, bed and haul crap. Cows need acres not square feet. Cheapest feed for a cow is a fresh stalk field.....its virtually free, heck the cost of a hot wire is covered by not having to spray for vol corn the next year.

You wouldn't believe how many acres of corn stubble I've tried to rent the last few years. Not a single person this year even entertained the idea long enough to take an offer. In most cases, the hired hand had a fancy new tillage tool he wanted to try on that piece.

I have a feeling a government subsidy would change their tune. It's a shame that that's what it takes.
