I give them the number of units needed, maturity and x number of smartstax for my coc acres, x number of conventional and x number of double pro for my cob acres. I do not name hybrids as that should be their job. However I do tell them what I may be looking for in regards to plant descriptions, ear height, plant height, disease package etc. The difference in prices is staggering. Had one dealer tell me to not say anything to anyone about his bid as he really cut. His was highest priced anyway! And yes the highest prices were the 2 big boys. Closest they could come to a regional was $20-25 a unit more. That's $10/acre extra in seed cost for seed that is no better. Just had two bids come in recently. difference was $23/unit. Last year these two were within a few dollars of each other.
