Southeast Colorado | I think that the commodity groups are out of touch with your average farmer. They pretty much represent the wealthiest 10% of farmers. Usually the people that sit on those boards come from those types of farms because the lobbying part of their job takes quite a bit of time out of your schedule and who in the heck has that kind of time if you're farming? A former president of the National Corn Growers lives and farms here and back when he did that job he was gone to Washington DC more during the year than he was here.
I suppose if you look at it from a total production stand point though..............those top 10% are producing more than half of the crop anyway. Right or wrong that's just how it is. | |
