They wouldn’t have to own the ground. Look at contract finishing hogs, they don’t own the barn. Joe blow can’t handle the markets so Mr Elevator man says I’ll rent your ground for $/acre, I’ll provide all the inputs you just have to do the work. Then you can still hold your head up and say your still farming. It already happens with one big elevator locally, it could catch on.
