They need the farmer for the ground. Most land is privately owned in our country. So as more farmers retire, the heirs are more likely to not be as attached to the land as the farmers. It will come for sale.......... Once big agribusiness gets control of the majority of the farm ground, crops will go the way of livestock.
ConAgra, Adm and CHS don’t want to own farmland. Only a farmer would buy $1,000,000 piece of land to make $40,000 including all his labor with $500,000 tied up in equip and facilities.
Cheaper to buy the raw product at the cost of production. Ford does not own the iron ore mine. |
