Southeast Colorado | There are only large dairies out here. No small dairy farms. It is hard for us to have any sympathy for folks crying about there being no money in dairy because they just keep growing and growing. One directly to my east has to be milking well over 10k cows now in 3 locations and a few years ago bought a bunch of irrigated land and put up 90 pivots all at the same time. They already owned a bunch of land before that move. I'm sure it's tough for the small guy but whatever these big guys are doing.............I'd say the small guys are either going to have to jump in or be squashed. | |
