Yes, I know about laws. I'm very glad that people who act antisocially can be punished. Drug use is antisocial. It encourages irresponsibility, idleness, dependency. It makes people do stupid stuff. Like driving while impaired. See the problem now? We need laws to punish people for doing said antisocial stupid stuff.

Contrary to what you say, laws do have a deterrent effect. No druggie wants to go to jail, where it's harder to get their favorite drug. Watch how druggies run from the cops. Take away the concern of jail time or control by the local drug court and there will be no need for them to run.

I don't say these things because I am "upset." You and I have locked horns on this for years. I am still convinced that you chose the losing side of the debate, though it will be years before that will be clear to you. By then, much damage will have been done.
