SD | I hauled a couple loads of soybeans into a coop today. My tester which I calibrated to the coops said 13.5%-14.5%. Weighed up and probed at 15.5% first load. Didnt sound right, so I took a sample as I dumped from both hoppers and had the coop test. Tested at 14.5% on the coop moisture tester.
Second load was probed at 15.2%. I took a hand sample and again 14.5% on the coop tester. Im wondering why the probe samples are consostently 0.7 to 1.0% higher? Normally I wouldnt care much, but they are taking shrink at 7.5% so I am losing 70 bushels of beans on every load, which I had contracted at $2 above current cash price. I feel like Im getting scammed on my contract.
Is there a state regulator I can notify or are we as farmers just at the mercy of the cooperatives whims? | |
