Coastal South Carolina | Boy talk about a loaded question.
I have always heard to try for cattle to not walk more than 700 ft for water. I know that is usually unrealistic. I see you are in NC. I have more trouble with heat than freezing so I try to place mine so it will be in shade in summer, but have some sun in the winter.
I also try to have mine reasonable close to my catch pen for that pasture. If I have a hard to catch cow I can extend my catch pen with panels to include the waterer.
I usually place them close the fence so they are less apt to be in the way if working in that pasture. | |
