Faunsdale, AL | I think it is a freshly shed Grey rat snake........or maybe it is clean and shiny from the 45 minute wash cycle! Ha! Ha! Most of them i see aren't so brightly patterned.
They have to be provoked to bite. I had a tiny one inside the frame of a drill one time. Instead of leaving him alone to ride along until he decided to leave on his own, I decided to catch him as he stuck his head out a hole. Yep, got a bite for my trouble! A couple semicircles or U's or small scratches. I washed it good and had no infection from it.
If it had been out on the ground I could have picked it up to move it without any problem, but grabbing it before it could get back in its hole was too much!
I have seen them get to 4' long, but mostly smaller. | |
