Subject: RE: Cotton Crop and Excess Rain Questions

Northwest Texas Panhandle
Do you have any trouble stripping that cotton with the previous years stalks laying in the row? I’m new to cotton and have heard that those stalks can really slow harvest or cause fires. Reason I ask is all of my cotton acres have quite a few stalks. I notilled some of my cotton into corn stalks and then came back with a rolling stalk cutter to lay down and size the old corn stalks. The cotton looks great but I’m a little concerned about all the residue. Cotton looks like a promising crop for me, but it sure is a pain to grow!
