Mineral is a year round need, especially for bred cows and calves. Consumption will vary at various times of the year but keep a good complete (with trace elements) mineral out there. Same for salt. I use a white salt block in a rubber tray near each waterer. Salt is very low cost.

Like TC, my mineral barrels are elsewhere in the pasture.
