The story of the woman caught in adultery comes to mind. She was brought before Jesus by the scribes and Pharisees to catch Jesus in a trap. He told them "The man who has not had an impure thought cast the first stone." They all left. This woman was spared the death sentence by Jesus. Death was the penalty for a woman and man caught in adultery. Jesus told her, "I do not condemn you. Go and leave your life of sin." She was given the opportunity to repent of her sin, and claim the grace Jesus offers.
I use The Passion Translation Bible. The verse is more descriptive of what Jesus defined sin to be. He deemed an impure thought to be equal to adultery. Therefore, all need the grace Jesus offers. | |
