Being able to shift trucking from October till after harvest makes a huge difference in the availability of truck. Even if the trucking cost is equal if I can get 4 trucks to haul out of a bag in December it's a lot better use of my time than trying to haul away from the combine with one or two trucks during harvest and having the combine sit half the time waiting on trucks.


I agree it’s shifting the trucking which may save labor if the combine and cart people are also the trucking people later in the process and no extra labor then needed at harvest but the trucking cost remains in both cases.

You still have a additional outlay of capital for the bags, bagger and unbagger. And yes those costs may be offset in the less stress of finding and managing additional labor at harvest. Just need to be sure to weight costs and benefits.
