750 is touch screen, better interface. Has buttons on back to control backlight. With the 500 you'd have to use a high power flashlight during the day to read the screen to navigate to the backlight controls if you turned it down too far the previous evening.

Got my 90+ year old grandpa to use the 750 before he died. Less intimidated by the touchscreen than buttons.

There were a couple really handy features on the 500 missing on the 750 but I'm drawing a blank.

Still use both. Prefer 750 because easier to type on and backlight controls. Whichever you get do yourself a favor and wire directly to the batteries.
