| From my experience with EZ Guide systems (was a NH field rep when they were first introduced) the best place to put a receiver on an articulating tractor was right above the front axle on the hood (as long as the cab doesn't block your signal). A mount from the roof that extends over the front axle works too. Main reason for trying this initially was that when you turn and artic tractor back and forth, the least side to side movement is experienced above the centre points of your axles (both the nose and the cab move much more than the axle center when steering). We are currently running two EZ steers on TJ500s with very little wiggle other than when you first engage at the end of the field. Wheel freeplay is set at 0" and aggressiveness is fairly low. Part of the reason artic tractors can wiggle when the receiver is on the roof is that when the tractor turns left, especially at lower speeds, the antenna actually moves slightly right if it is behind the front axle.
I would think that if you could get somewhere near the turning center of your Cat (point the tractor pivots around when you turn) it should work fairly well. | |
