Subject: RE: JD 8245R with RTK guidance

SE South Dakota
Tried this post in Machinery Talk but thought I'd post here also. A friend has a 2014 8245R that he plants with. JD 1770NT 16 row and RTK. His problem is it will plant a 28" guess row on one pass and next pass is 32" to get it back correct. next round or several it will plant one to several correct 30" guess rows and then back to the 28" and 32" gig. JD mechanics can't figure it out. have changed globes, monitors, etc. and still does it. Has fluid in the front tires plus front end weights and one mechanic thinks the fluid may be and issue but doubtful. They are removing the fluid. Mechanics set up a drag off the drawbar to scratch into the gravel as they drive. They drive back and forth on the same line and sometimes it drags the same line and sometimes it does the 28 and 32 inch scratch in the gravel. No planter is attached when they do this so it's not a tweeked planter frame as someone suggested. Any ideas?? 2 inches is not a big deal with the planter but he ditches for flood irrigation with a 12 row ditcher and 2 inches will be an issue doing that, especially in gumbo. Thoughts?

Edit: The 2 inch discrepency is showing on the monitor and actual field measurements.
