The liming part is the same in both calcitic or dolomitic lime (which is what the CCE measures). If your magnesium levels are low, it is a definite advantage to get dolomitic lime if you can, since this is usually the cheapest way to get magnesium. Dolomitic gives you half calcium and half magnesium, so it will build both cations. The rate to apply will depend on the CCE - pure dolomitic lime actually has a higher neutralizing value (the Mg weighs less than the Ca, so there is room for more carbonate), but most ag limes have some inert stuff in with them, and the fineness makes a big difference on how effective they are.
