Beresford, SD | Studying up on feeding raw whole soybeans. This would be on the next turn of cattle, fats are to close to the knife to change rations.
Things I've read.
1) feed whole
2) don't feed with urea.
3) keep DM intake under 15%.....I'm thinking much lower like 5-7%
4) does not impact carcass negatively
5) they are around $230 a ton.
6) higher in net energy than corn, fat. (The same stuff the e-plants have taken out of by-products!)
7) extremely high level of soluable protein.
8) going to have a few bins full of them
9) should be fed in TMR.......very dangerous by themselves, much like any legume.
10) need to consider total ration fat level....not getting it too high.
Once cattle are on feed considering feeding 2#/hd/day.
Dad fed them back in the LDP days, anyone else feed raw whole soybeans? Looks like one of the cheapest soluable protein sources with lots of energy available.
Am I nuts?
