Subject: Help for Personal Advice--Aging parent

Lancaster, OH

Wish I didn't feel I needed to post this.

My mother is in an assisted living facility 4 hours away from us. She is refusing to walk, eat in the common area, etc. She is suffering from depression and, I think, is having evening visits from her boyfriends, Jack and Jim. The facility has called my sister who is local about her lack of effort to take care of herself--bath, change clothes, etc.

My response, so far with her, jumps right to chewing her out for not trying.  We are getting nowhere.

Does anyone here have any advice on how to handle this?  what would be especially helpful is someone who has been in her place to let me know how she is thinking.

TIA
