North Dakota | When I work on precision equipment I have a saying, "If you're happy, I'm happy".
Some operators are good with 8% error others are not, it just depends on how much work you are willing to put into getting it right. I have customers that I can enter the default numbers and if it drives within 4 inches of the line, they are good with it. Others I have to spend a bit of time to get it so it does not deviate more than an inch or so, and others that are expecting the impossible. One or two that figure I should be able to get their sprayer to drive .25" of the line at 20 MPH. Combine yield monitors are the same thing, some only look at the variation and forget about the actual yield, others feel it should be within 10 bushels at the elevator at the end of the year. One takes no work to achieve the other is impossible.
So again, if the operator is happy with what their unit is doing,I'm good with it too. If he isn't I'll do what I can to get it as close as I can to what he wants. | |
