Subject: Plastic hyd reservoir leak

I have a Spra-coupe 7650 that I tried to remove a suction screen from a plastic hydraulic reservoir. The screen is threaded into steel fitting molded into the tank. However instead of unthreading from the steel fitting molded into the tank it turned the steel fitting molded in the tank and now leaks.

The tank is only under head pressure as it's vented.

I'm thinking that cutting it out and putting a bulkhead fitting in would be the best option. The fitting in it currently is about 3" OD. I've never had much luck putting silicone on the outside of a leak. Or would an epoxy actually work in a situation like this? I'm thinking it would need to be flexible as the steel and plastic would expand at different rates.

I'm not sure but I think it's hdpe.
