NW MN | North Dakota received a huge federal subsidy from the 2008 stimulus/American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in February 2009 for telecommunications/internet access specifically.
Your phone coops and local privates did a excellent job of using that money but that bill is the whole reason rural ND has fiber like it does.
It surprises me when I talk to my ND neighbors and friends and they don’t realize other states and areas don’t have the level of service they do and then further how they came to have that access.
