Texas/New Mexico Stateline
I figure on the skip row I know I am giving up top end, for insurance in a dry summer. Past 3 summers have been the same. Just almost burn up in July before the rains come in August. That skip I think..... gut feeling ...... is we get another week to 10 days to wait on rain. Sometimes that is enough to save the crop. Not wanting to hit a grand slam every 4th at bat. I'd rather hit a solid double every year.

Still looking at weed pressure this year in the wide skips, wondering if I would be better off planting every row at even lower population. 30" middle is nearly weed free.

Don't know what is best.

Hoping might average 50-65 bu. this year all skip-row. I would be tickled with that.

I was wondering how your dryland has done with your residue all burned off. If you had any crops on that ground.
