Only time I miss the home button is when the phone is laying on the table and I want to unlock it, but I use a PIN so use the face reader. I think the fingerprint was more convenient but the face reader is just as reliable.
I thought I'd hate not having the home button but barely miss it.
FWIW I wouldn't operate a smart phone without a PIN or passcode, leaves you way too vulnerable if your phone is lost or stolen....
