NCKS | We have some corn planted second week of June. We started seeing some southern rust before tassel, so we sprayed 14oz Aframe Plus (some form of Quilt Xcel) at VT-R1 on most of it. That's been 12-18 days ago. The Kernels are just turning yellow now. I walked some fields today and saw 1 or 2 leaves per field with just a bit of southern rust, so very VERY light pressure. Forecast is low to mid 80s with some rain and humidity. Corn looks amazing with as good of potential as we ever get here. So I guess here's my questions: How quickly can southern rust take over? How late in the corn life cycle is late enough not to worry about it? And would a cheap generic fungicide like tebuconazole or something, applied a week from now, hold it off long enough for it not to be an issue?
