Looks good Paul. I did some test strips on an 80 at 28k, 30k, 32k and 34k. Usually plant irrigated at 32k.
I did a test very similar 2 years ago, I plant at 30K in my area pretty much everyone around me plants at 33+
Did this in 2016 we had about the perfect year always had moisture and heat when need ended up with a 217 average that year, anyways the results were
28K was about 3 bushels under 30K
30K was the perfect population in my test
32K was just a tick higher but after factoring in increased seed cost was a wash or tick lower that profitability from 30K
34K was just too much in my test area actually yielded less that the stuff planted at 30K
Funny thing pretty much everyone is convinced you need more plants so virtually no one took very little stock in the results, obviously you need to watch your varieties and plan a good flex ear variety in order to drop populations back. |
