I think it all depends on why you are buying. If you are buying hedges back and you feel the market is going to go up and you can handle the risk then it might not be so bad. If you are a farmer with very little 2018 corn contracted and you want to do a Texas hedge I would say there is never a good time to do that, especially when there is good carry in the market.
