Needing some advice on how to get the hydraulic pump out of a 4010 diesel tractor. Not sure if it should come out the top or bottom. Just didn't know if anyone had any pointers or ever removed one. Thanks

has been covered before, myself I go out the top, I don't like working underneath the tractor, moving front axle forward, cleaning up. Faster if you have help out the bottom. Going out the top, radiator needs cleaned up anyway, new hoses on oil cooler, fuel tank maybe needs cleaned also. See what others say, will be confusing which way to do it.

You can take it out the bottom without removing the front axle, as long as it a JD front axle. It will take two people to take it out, it is heavy. Put a bar right under the main pump and above the engine side frame to support it. Leave the cast iron A frame bolted to pump attached to pump. One person on each side holding pump in one hand A frame in other, pry the A frame forward off of dowel pins, lower rear, A frame down and remove. Note: don't try to rebuilt pump yourself. You will wind up with a bushel of parts, unless you are highly mechanical.
Good luck and be careful. You will only have to loosen the fitting on two lines, remove top banjo fitting and 4 bolts, and it's yours.

I'm in north central Illinois also.

If you have splitting stands take it out the bottom. stick 2 long rods through the holes on each side of the front axle and roll it out of the way.... Dennis
