Use the rule of thumb 1# hanging weight per person for the size and the amount of charcoal will depend on that. In our charcoal cooker for a 130-150# pig would take around 110# of charcoal and about 12 hrs to finish. It’s a Meadowcreek....really full proof. Look hard enough and you can find briquettes on sale for $.30/lb. Menards at 11% time usually around $.33.

If you have time to stuff it like Johnny had mentioned with a sauerkraut stuffing of some sort you won’t be sorry.
