West Central Wisconsin | A dozen years ago I made wine from just about any fruit I could find but was never able to get a batch of choke cherry made. I've got several books with recipes if you'd like me to post one otherwise google it. This guy has always had good recipes. http://winemaking.jackkeller.net/chokech.asp As far as freezing and doing it later, the Alaska Cooperative Extension has a pdf file, (couldn'nt down load), that might have some tips for freezing. The little bit I read on the pdf file tells me chokecherries pits might be a little on the toxic side, (mentioned in Jack Keller recipe). Seems like a lot of work to pit them and makes me wonder if a steamer juicer would be safe because of the pit toxins. https://livinghomegrown.com/how-to-use-a-steam-juicer/ I bought one of these and they made wine making so much easier. Elderberry in particular was a actually worth the effort after buying one. | |
